Which sphere grid is better

The Expert grid, on the other hand, grants the player a lot more flexibility in how they develop their characters. The starkest difference between the two grids in Final Fantasy 10 is where each character starts on it. On the Standard Grid, all party members begin very far away from one other.

This means that they functionally have their own sections of the grid and a path that offers little in the way of deviation until they reach the end. This defines each character into their role really well - Tidus is a warrior with a lot of agility, Lulu is a black mage, etc.

The Expert Grid, on the other hand, has all characters beginning on the same node. While they each begin connected to a section of the grid that is comparable to their section on the Standard Grid, it's very easy to send any character down any path you want.

If you want to make Tidus your white mage and turn Lulu into a fighter who inflicts lots of status-ailments, it's well within your power to do so.
