Why does crysis 2 keep crashing

Yep, my anti-virus detects critical threat. Easy solution.. The Steam shortcut uses the launcher which is where the virus is detected to be Quartz View Profile View Posts. Crysis 2 Maximum Edition Store Page. I bought Crysis 2 Maximum edition on steam. I was able to play for a while after downloading but then it started crashing and now it just keeps crashing.

Sometimes it crashes before it even gets to the main menu, sometimes it crashes while loading a saved game, and sometimes it crashes during gameplay. So if I get lucky it lets me play but might eventually crash. So far I've tried verifying integrity of game cache but that didn't help, i tried finding a patch but the installer couldn't locate the game so I guess that mean patches don't work for steam games, and I think i also installed the Direct X but none of that worked it just keeps crashing.

I am playing this on a Windows 8 desktop by the way. So can anyone hep me find a way to fix this. Note: Please do not post unless you have a solution or suggestion on how to fix my problem. I am tired of reading forums where most repliers just say they are having the same problem. That does not help me and just wastes my time and gives me false hope that someone posted a solution. The problem for a lot of people is that they will continually try and play the Crysis application with the likes of an Internet Browser, music or some other form of software running in the background.
