The song is about a man who is facing fear with the realization that it's his time and he's going to die. He then thinks about his past: how he has made bad decisions walk away from his mind never been himself in disguise , how he has never found love break a heart with ease. Then finally as the tempo picks up and his train death is catching up with him he says "what makes a man pray when he's about to die, i think i might know" because he himself is praying, repenting of things he listed before and regretting not having more time.
